July 2026
- Replaced kerning artboards with a kerning tool with freeform text artboards for testing letter spacing and pairs directly on the canvas.
- Greatly improved sidebearing and advanced width adjustment experience. No longer applying incorrect conceept of advance width to glyphs.
- Added a shimmer animation to the canvas while AI glyph generation is in progress.
- Made new workspace setup transactional so an interrupted signup no longer leaves an account partially configured.
- Fixed incorrect glyph advance-width and ink-width calculations, with a one-time backfill correcting previously affected glyphs.
- Rectangles and ellipses now stay as native shapes and can be converted to editable bezier paths on demand, preserving fill, stroke, and undo history.
- Fixed the canvas visibly stretching and snapping back when resized, by rendering the new frame synchronously.
- Fixed broad nib strokes losing their sharp corners where the stroke crosses over itself.
- Fixed broad nib stroke corners not repairing correctly when overlapping strokes were combined.
- Added overshoot zones to the font metrics editor for precise visual alignment guides
- Made nudging and exported coordinates align to font units.
- Rendered artboard labels directly on the GPU and removed the DOM-based label overlay
- Fixed snap-to-grid behavior for drag operations and corrected the artboard grid origin
- Added a transform panel to the node card for editing position, rotation, and scale
- Added a changelog page so you can see what's new in Nib
- Reduced WebGPU idle rendering overhead for a smoother editing experience
- Improved the font preview input and now show tofu for glyphs that have not been drawn yet
